One of the ways we have saved money over the years is by not having cable television.  We found it was not something we watched and would rather spend the money elsewhere.  (For a brief time, our internet was cheaper if we also agreed to have cable … but we forgot we had it and never watched it.)  Instead, we have come to find we prefer watching movies, or streaming televisions shows we are actually interested in seeing.

Recently, my husband added Hulu to our home viewing options.  He was looking to watch a particular show, and I appreciate the variety of option they have available.

If the father in your life is a TV lover, you can get him the gift of a month of Hulu and get paid to do it. Thanks to an offer through Swagbucks, you get $15 (paid in the form of points called SB) for trying Hulu for a month. That will cost you $7.99, so you’re making $7 on the deal!

Hulu has tons of current and classic programming, movies, brilliant original series, and more. Here’s how you do it:

1. Click this link.
2. Create your Swagbucks account (takes 30 seconds)
3. Click “Continue” and sign up for Hulu
4. Enjoy Hulu! You should have your points within 30 minutes.

This is a great time to join because when you sign up through the link above and get your 1500 SB, you’ll get a bonus 300 SB at the beginning of July. So that’s $15 (1500 SB) for trying Hulu plus your $3 (300 SB) bouns, which gets you 1800 SB, which means you make $10 total for giving a cool gift to the Dad in your life (or yourself)!

Haven’t tried Swagbucks yet? They’re a site where you earn points (called SB) for doing things like online shopping, watching videos, taking surveys, and discovering deals and services you might like to try (like Hulu!). You then take those points and turn them into free gift cards to places like Amazon, Starbucks, Walmart, Target, or PayPal cash.

To help make your June a little sweeter, Swagbucks is holding a fun team challenge to help you earn free gift cards!

Jack has been asking when the next challenge will take place; he loves seeing the teams’ totals increase and leaders change.  My participation level in the various Team Challenges in the past has depended upon what else is happening in life at that particular moment.  If not a lot else is going on, I am able to earn more points.  When I am called away from the house for hours each day, I am not able to do as much, though there is still a lot you can do in the evenings, mornings, or over your lunch break.

Two weeks ago, George got out of school for summer break, and started his Summer (home) School routine. Jack started Term 3 for school, as we took off more time during the winter months to move and get established in our new community. Last week, we were gone to see family out of state.  Next week, we will be moving our stuff to our new house.

Currently life has something routine-changing going on every week, which throws my kids off and makes my life more emotionally and energy draining. (They do not do well with routine changes.)  I still have high hopes for the Team Challenge, as there are a variety of activities I can do to help reach the 400 Team Points needed to earn the Swag Up Rebate, as well as the personal goal I have set for myself.

One of the reasons Jack likes these challenges so much is that he gets to watch some of the videos as they play.  (Note: not each challenge has the same activities available to earn team points.)  He also “helps” with other Discover activities and is sometimes asked to participate in Surveys.

Some previous team members I have had were at home sick, making it possible to spend 8+ hours a day finding ways to earn points, called SB, while figuring out the most efficient way to do so.  Other members were parents who also worked full time.  They were only able to contribute a small amount of time each day.  The benefit of having a message board for each team is when other team members share what has worked for them and the fastest ways to earn Team Points (which are different than your personal SB earned).  By working together, everyone learns and is able to earn more.

Currently, I have a particular goal in mind, an item for our new house which I would like to purchase in the next week. I am currently 75% of the way to my goal and hoping this the Sweet Treat Team Challenge will help me get the rest of the way there. I find that having an earning goal in mind helps me stay focused and actually increases the SB I earn, and therefore increases the amount of gift cards I can redeem them for.

For those of you who don’t know what Swagbucks is, it’s a website where you can earn cash back on everyday tasks you do online like shopping, answering surveys, discovering deals, and watching videos. You can even earn for searching the web! If you’ve never tried Swagbucks before because you didn’t know where to begin, their Team Challenges are a great way to learn the ropes! Their latest, the “Sweet Treat” Team Challenge, begins Monday, June 12th at 8am PT.

Here’s how you can join the challenge and the site:

1. Click here to join the challenge and be assigned to a team.

2. Starting June 12th at 8am PDT, in addition to earning SB you’ll contribute points to your teams total as you complete different activities on Swagbucks.

3. Check back on the page often to see the scores and what you’ve contribute so far.

All members who participate and contribute at least 400 points to their team’s total will receive a SB bonus in the form of a SB Swag Up Rebate on their next gift card!

Not only that, but if you earn 300 SB before July 1st, you’ll get an additional 300 SB bonus (as long as you’ve signed up under me)!

Members of the 1st place team will receive a 60 SB Swag Up Rebate, members of the 2nd place team will receive a 40 SB Swag Up Rebate, members of the 3rd place team will receive a 20 SB Swag Up Rebate, and members of the 4th place team will receive a 10 SB Swag Up Rebate, Your SB Swag Up Rebate will be made available on Friday, June 16th and will expire on Friday, June 30th at 11:59pm PT.

Swagbucks is currently offering double cash back or more at a number of stores for Father’s Day. From Best Buy to Lowes, you’ll get cash back (in the form of SB points) for buying your gifts online through Swagbucks.

They also have offers where you can earn SB points towards free gift cards for getting the Dad in your life a subscription to Hulu or Dollar Shave Club! It’s a smart way to buy the gifts you were already going to get, and Swagbucks offers coupons and deals when you shop online to your favorite stores on top of the points you earn.

If you are like me and have a talent for forgetting holidays and other days of remembrance, this is the perfect time to go ahead and take care of this To-do List line item.  It is easy, quick, and no wrapping required.

You can even take advantage of this offer to purchase gift cards for yourself to use on projects around the house.  New garden bed anyone? How about a rain barrel? Garden statue? Water pond?

You can find all of the details here. If you haven’t signed up for Swagbucks yet, you can also do that at this page and start earning points towards your first free gift card. As a bonus, if you sign up through me a spend at least $25 shopping online through Swagbucks, you’ll get a 200 SB bonus – that’s $2 in addition to the points you get for each dollar you spend.

These deals will run all the way through Father’s Day on Sunday, June 18th.

When you sign up through me this month, you can earn a $5 bonus!

If you have some shopping to do online, just go to Swagbucks first and visit the store through them. It doesn’t cost you anything extra, but you’ll get SB points for every dollar you spend (on top of the bonus)! That’s it. It’s super easy, and Swagbucks is for real. I use it myself, and I’ve earned over $100 in gift cards since the beginning of the year.

I am saving up for a particular item currently.  In the past I have used SB toward gift cards or PayPal to help pay for Christmas gifts, gardening supplies, various household items, fitness items, and treats for ourselves which do not fit into the budget. Earning Tip: having a goal to work toward always helps increase my earnings.

*You must receive your shopping SB before August 1st

Schoola.com

Earlier this week I went through the kids’ clothes with them, paring down on excess, passing along 2+ paper sacks of clothes no longer needed, and looking for where we needed to fill in.  With the weather all over the place, I had to leave out both cool and warm weather clothing.  Thankfully it was still cool, as I found 4 more pairs of next-size-up pants for George in our clothing totes.  However, he only had 2 pairs of shorts which would fit him. Yikes!

Buying ahead and also second-hand are two ways we are able to keep our clothing budget in check.  This is especially important with one kid who likes to change sizes quickly and is 4 sizes ahead of his (not much) younger brother.

Schoola has been a sanity-saver more than once.  We have always been impressed with the quality of their clothing, their honesty in the condition of each item, the shipping times, and the knowledge that our purchase is helping a school raise funds for various programs.

Currently, Schoola is running an early Mother’s Day savings event – Happy Mother’s Day! Get 50% off with code MOM at Schoola.com. Offer is valid 5/10-5/14.*

Know someone who would be as excited as you are about this deal?  Send a friend $15 off to shop the amazing deals on children’s clothes at Schoola.com and you’ll get $15 off too. Shop now!

And don’t forget, orders of $25 or more always qualify for free shipping!

*Fine print: Discounts and credits do not apply toward the free shipping threshold or promotional minimums. Discounts are applied to the post-credit order value. New-with-tags items are not eligible for purchase with discounts or credits.

The May flowers are here, and Swagbucks has brought a $5 bonus!

When you sign up through me this month, you can earn a $5 bonus! Here’s how:

1. Sign up using this link

2. Earn 300 SB total before 6/1/17. You’ll get a $3 (300 SB) bonus for it!

3. If you spend at least $25 through Swagbucks Shop* you’ll get another $2 (200 SB) bonus on top of the cash back you’ll get from shopping. If you have some shopping to do online, just go to Swagbucks first and visit the store through them. Then you take those points and exchange them for gift cards to places like Amazon, Starbucks, Walmart, Target, or PayPal cash.

That’s it. It’s super easy, and Swagbucks is for real. I use it myself, and I’ve earned $55 (5582 SB) in the first 3 months of the year.  This is a bit lower than I normally would have earned, though almost a month of that time I was out unable to do my normal activities.  I also did very few surveys and no free trials, both of which can be sources of larger SB earnings. (You do not have to complete surveys or trials in order to earn SB; it is only one option.  There is also no tracker which you must download.  Earning is as easy as logging into their site and choosing which activities you would like to complete.)

The SB were redeemed for PayPal and Amazon gift cards, resulting in home school materials purchased for this upcoming year, as well as replacing a broken radio in our home.  Every little bit helps and begins to add up, especially when I can do these things without having to leave home or interrupt a large portion of my day.

*You must receive your shopping SB before July 1st (I think they mean June 1st, but I will check to make sure on this detail.)

This post contains affiliate links.  As a referral, I receive a small amount of bonus SB whenever you also complete activities and earn SB.  These help me continue to purchase items for our schooling and home needs.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Swagbucks had a fun team challenge to help you earn SB from Swagbucks!  Yes, this part of my life has now extended to all parts of my life.  No longer am I restricted to only hearing about this for hours a day while Jack retells step by step the movies, t.v. shows, and games.  It is a good thing I like it as well, though not as intently as he does apparently.

Their latest, the “Swag Wars” Team Challenge, begins Monday, May 1st at 8am PT.
Here’s how you can join the challenge and the site:

1. Click here to join the challenge and be assigned to a team.

2. Starting May 1st at 2pm PDT, in addition to earning SB you’ll contribute points to your teams total as you complete different activities on Swagbucks.

3. Check back on the page often to see the scores and what you’ve contribute so far.

All members who participate and contribute at least 400 points to their team’s total will receive a SB bonus in the form of a SB Swag Up Rebate on their next gift card!

Not only that, but if you earn 300 SB before May 1st, you’ll get a 300 SB bonus (as long as you’ve signed up under me)!

Members of the 1st place team will receive a 50 SB Swag Up Rebate, members of the 2nd place team will receive a 35 SB Swag Up Rebate, members of the 3rd place team will receive a 20 SB Swag Up Rebate, members of the 4th place team will receive a 10 SB Swag Up Rebate, and members of the 5th place team will receive a 5 SB Swag Up Rebate. Your SB Swag Up Rebate will be made available on Friday, May 5th and will expire on Wednesday, May 31st at 11:59pm PT.

May the Force be with you!

If you love Steak ‘N Shake, I know we do, you can get a 15% cashback when you purchase Steak ‘N Shake gift cards from MyGiftCardsPlus, which is a site that gives you cash back when you buy gift cards to your favorite retailers.

This would have been great during an 8+ hour road trip the kids and I took last fall.  The car’s air conditioning went out 3 hours into the drive, and there was only so much rolling down of windows could help with. (Though the kids thought they were cool stuff being able to roll down windows on the interstate highways, something usually off limits in our household.) Steak ‘n Shake was a life saver, offering a yummy way to keep cool with their delicious shakes!

The cash back is paid in the form of SB points on Swagbucks, which you can turn into free gift cards to places like Amazon, Starbucks, or PayPal. You can take advantage of this deal by clicking here, and if you don’t already have a Swagbucks account, you can create one there so you get your SB points for your purchase! (You may also receive up to a $5 bonus!)

This is a limited time offer that’s good through this April 30th or until supplies run out, whichever happens first!
