Desert Views and Pictures of Desert Plants

Back in April we took a family trip to Arizona.  While in Phoenix we went to the Desert Botanical Garden and were able to see a lot of different types of plants and animals than I was used to.  Obviously, as I live in Zone 5 and the Botanical Garden was in the middle of a desert.  Many of the desert plants were in bloom.  They created a gorgeous desert view.  I had been to the area before, but not during the spring to see them blooming.  It was like being in a different place.  Here are some plant pictures for you to enjoy.  These were just a few of the desert plants we saw at the botanical garden.

I was amazed at how much I really didn’t know about some of the plants in the desert climate.  For example, I thought prickly pear everywhere was the same prickly pear as that which grows around me.  I had never seen any other kind.  As it turns out, there are many different kinds.  They all are a bit similar but obviously different when you put them next to each other.

I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and could have spent the whole day there.  I hope you enjoyed some of the pictures of desert plants.  It helped remind me just how different gardening is different zone can be.
