Weekly Garden Goals – July 29, 2013

Weekly Goals collage May 2013

Last week’s goals:

  • trimming bushes along front walk
  • edge grass along sidewalk
  • take brush to yard waste recycling site
  • move extra produce stand plants to a shadier spot (the sun is wilting them)
  • plant (very late) sweet potato slips
  • spread out dirt piles (from replacement of water line) – one was spread out
  • trim trees along edge of porch (so it can be painted)

Last week was not near as productive as the week before.  However, it also held some things that kept us away from home enough each day to mess up our routines and take up the ‘free time’ to work outside.  This week seems a bit more promising in the area of having time to get to some of the garden jobs.  I am going to focus on getting to the items from last week:

  • trimming bushes along front walk
  • edge grass along sidewalk
  • move extra produce stand plants to a shadier spot (the sun is wilting them)
  • plant (very late) sweet potato slips
  • spread out dirt piles (from replacement of water line)

If I am able to accomplish those then I am also going to work on:

  • mulch around rose bushes
  • remove weeds from roses in side yard
  • remove volunteer squash plants from front flower bed
  • remove brushes and concrete blocks under hackberry tree; relocate daffodil bulbs; flatten area

I had forgotten about the canning of these last week also.  No wonder I didn’t have the time I should have.  🙂  If things turn out the way I am hoping they will, there will be more canning going on this week.  Today I did 4 more quarts of beets.

How is your garden coming along?
