It has been a few weeks since I posted goals. There is a reason for that. I just haven’t done much gardening. Not sure what I did with my times, but it must have been something because we are all still wearing clothes, eating, sleeping in made beds, and the kitchen counter is relatively clean. I have also read through two books, each fun ones that I have read before, and have started a third one that is heavier subject matter and is one that I have not read before.
With drought conditions basically here, I don’t actually plan on doing much planting right now. After all, it is July.
What I am doing is watering and thinking about what I want in a fall garden. More green onions and lettuce are at the top of the list.
With that in mind, here are my goals for this week:
- Water daily, unless it rains. The garden is looking so much better since I started doing this. I hadn’t realized exactly how dry it had gotten out there.
- Divide the aloe plants, for once and for all. Even I will admit that I have let this quick action go too long.
- Get up before 6 a.m. every morning.I got up this morning before everyone else. It helped that they all slept in a bit. I showered, dressed, water the garden, and had most of the table out before anyone else was awake. One helper woke up as I went back inside to get some produce to put out. I still got the helper dressed (loved that the time I had taken to teach this one to dress themselves has finally taken hold), iron by husband’s church clothes (yes, I should have done this last night), and started breakfast before anyone else woke up. If every morning was like this my days would go so much easier.
- Declutter my stash closet. This became my stash closet a year ago and it has been collecting stuff every since. Most stuff honestly had no where else to go. However, it as all just sort of thrown in there. I took about half an hour earlier last week and went at it. What a difference even put similar stuff together and in an organized fashion does for the look and feel! This is a walk in closet built into our attic space, so not big, an odd configuration, but an easy place to stash stuff.
So, four goals. Not a lot, but they are priorities. We also have swim lessons this week. Right in the middle of the day. Doesn’t help with planning my days, but it does force me to be more structured.
No more had I posted this, then I opened my email and saw the following email from a seed company, “Start Second Season Vegetables NOW”. Seems I was right on time with my thinking.
