Parsley

Until this year there has never still been a green plant in my garden in January. Remember, I live in the Midwest – zone 5. It is COLD outside.

Parsley though seems to be a plant that keeps on living for me … this year at least.

Last year was my first year to plant it and that was mainly due to having extra transplants from my stand that did not sell before they started to look really bad.  I planted it rather than have it die.

Now, granted, it is not growing.  The parsley plants have, however, continued to live through being covered by snow and temperatures well below freezing.  I have taken several cutting to use in my cooking, which has been nice.

I am glad I did not cut it all when I was doing my fall garden cleanup.

This coming year parsley will definantly be on my “to be planted” list.
