I spent all day yesterday at a Heart at Home conference.  Since I didn’t want to stay overnight in a hotel, this meant leaving before anyone else in my house was up.  It also meant getting back when they all should have been in bed.  Let’s just say there were lights on and the welcome committee was waiting for me.  I had a good time, heard some encouraging speakers, made a new friend, and came home with some ideas to implement … or try to rather.  As with any advice given, take what works for you and leave the rest.

Today I’m a bit tired today and think perhaps I should participate in nap time that is currently going on in other parts of my house.

Goal wise, I did better this week.  I didn’t plant all the tomato seeds I had, but I got 75 of them started.  I still have another 25 pellets to expand, but think I’ll use them on the cucumber seeds that I am hoping to start next week.

With the nice weather, I put my flats outside to get natural sun light (it is warmer there, which the peppers like, and I save using energy to run lights).  So far it seems to have worked well.  As long as the weather keeps this up, that is what I will do.

I also added some older compost to my bed.  Once it gets incorporated I’ll consider starting some lettuce in them.  If it was cooler I was going to make a plastic cover to go over them, thereby making them green houses.  However, a week of upper 70’s is expected so I don’t think that is necessary right now.

Previous Goals:

Gardening:

  1. Start plants that need to be started 6 weeks before last frost – tomatoes, etc.
  2. Start some seeds given by a local gardener.  Try to divide them out into similar seeds (they were given all mixed up in a baggie.)

Home:

  1. Make scones and some other new recipes to try for upcoming bridal shower
  2. Send email to a few friends to arrange a tea to try out above mentioned new recipes
  3. Make monthly meal plan – I got this past week finished and the suppers for the upcoming week done.  It really does seem to be an odd month, with different appointments and meetings, both at home and at work.  Perhaps it is good that I haven’t planned everything out to a ‘T’ and did shopping for it.  I have enough here at the house that I can wing the meals I don’t have scheduled for a few days until I have time to go to the store.

Personal:

  1. Finish reading current book
  2. Get at least 7 hours of sleep each night.

Blog:

  1. Put together a Tree of the Week post (any requests?)
  2. Publish another post

New Goals:

  3. Finish all of Zone 3 work
  4. Have a tea party

Blog:

  1. 2 posts beyond my weekly goals
  2. add pictures to my picture library

My poppies have bloomed out.  Before blooming they look like the middle picture (the one above this one).  Here is what they look like after they bloom.  I came across the explanation of how to spread the seeds of these.  Now that I know how I will save the seeds this year and redistribute them next winter.  This also explains why the number of poppies in my garden has gone down and some have appeared in the grass; they are self seeders and spread that way.  The first year we lived in our house these were a great surprise.
