Yesterday’s afternoon plan for me and the kids – color winter pictures, cut out paper snowflakes, bake cookies and watch a movie.
What actually happened – spent 1.5 hours on the phone with customer service, getting our garage door opener working while kids whined, fought, made a mess, then eventually disobeyed and turned on the t.v. At least they finally agreed on something.
To say my husband was very happy with me, once he came home from a few unexpected hours at work, would be an understatement.
You can’t make everyone happy all the time.
Today’s plans – church, lunch, grocery shopping, then time at the library for my husband to finish group work and the kids to play on computers.
Plan B, Draft #1 – church, lunch, grocery shopping, then home to do school work (husband) and cookies/movies (kids).
Cookies were on the plan, again till I realized the kids were having trouble following even simple instructions from me. Not a great time to require them to bake something.
Plan B, Draft #2 – We went straight to the movies I had picked up from the library yesterday.
Tonight, George went to bed at about 5:30 p.m. Without supper. Not what it sounds like though, as this was his choice. Either he has only a bad headache or is getting sick.
Our plans for tomorrow (O.T. and Christmas shopping in Big Town) might be in jeopardy, too, at this point.
In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable.
